Speed Dating style automotive career event

Autotech Academy, together with Marshall Motor Group, recently held a free Open Day Event at Cambridge College for its automotive students – which has resulted in several students securing paid internship roles as soon as they qualify.

Over 35 students attended the event, which saw managers from Marshall Motor Group, including representatives from Volvo and SEAT franchise dealerships, present to the group, providing valuable career path information and opportunities which currently exist for new talent entering the industry.

Students were able to directly ask questions to delegates from Volvo and SEAT in a ‘speed dating’ style event

During a breakout session, delegates from Marshall held ‘speed-dating style’ talks with individual students to respond to any questions they had about careers within the automotive industry.

“As a company, we were really impressed with the Open Day,” commented Becca Garratty, Recruitment Advisor for

Marshall Motor Group Ltd. “Both the quantity and the quality of the students really passed all of our expectations. The students were engaged, and all came prepared with well thought out questions that they had about what a career in the automotive industry could look like.

"Since the Open Day the dealerships across our network have been pleasantly surprised with how well the students presented themselves at interview and are looking forward to the successful students starting with them when they pass their exams.

"It was really encouraging to see great young talent about to start their career in the industry.”

Students were also given the opportunity to sign up to Autotech Academy, who offers newly qualified Level 3 vehicle technicians paid for internships with automotive employers.

Subsequently, several students have already been lined up to take up internship roles as soon as they finalise their studies.
