Would you like to spend a day with a professional motorsport team seeing what life is like as a race mechanic?
Autotech Academy has collaborated with the NAPA Racing UK team and Ruben Hage from the Ginetta GT Championship to offer automotive students the chance to experience a day getting an exclusive insight into life behind the scenes of a motorsport team.
If you are at college studying towards, or have qualified in the last three years with, a automotive qualification, you could be in with a chance of winning a day with one of the race teams at events across England from April to October.
This unique opportunity could see you working within the exhilarating environment of the pit lane and the paddock, shadowing the mechanics as they work.
The 2023 race season will be the third consecutive year that Autotech Academy has run this exclusive competition. However, following the company’s recent announcement that they would be sponsoring the NAPA Racing UK team, the opportunity to win has doubled with over 25 spaces now up for grabs!
Past winners have spoken about their experience of spending the day with the teams through the competition: Tori-Leigh Adams: “I learnt so many things and managed to expand so much of the knowledge I already had when it comes to race cars and how the teams operate. This opportunity did not only benefit my light vehicle side of the automotive industry, but it also gave me a great insight into the motorsport side.”
Bradley Renouf, who later went on to take an internship through Autotech Academy, comments: "The day from start to finish was such an amazing experience. Everyone was really friendly and so supportive (especially when answering any questions, I had). I learnt how a professional team works in a challenging environment. I was able to talk to the actual mechanics on how their systems work, and why everything needs to be exactly as it is. I found it so inspiring and as a result, also gained an internship!”
Simple to enter through the Autotech Academy website, entrants just need to choose their preferred event and date and explain why they should be picked as a winner.
The Autotech Academy team will then select the entrants based on who they believe will be making the most out of their day.
Autotech Academy provides qualified automotive college leavers with a gateway into the industry through a paid internship. Each intern is equipped with a toolbox of tools and uniform before embarking upon a 6-12 month internship with an automotive employer.
Since its launch in early 2021, Autotech Academy has helped over 150 newly qualified students secure full-time employment following an internship with automotive employers including, Skoda, Peugeot and In ‘n’ Out.
