Meet-with...-Simon-FishWe’d like to introduce you to Simon Fish, Autotech Recruit’s newly appointed Recruitment Consultant, who is heading our Bodyshop Division. A brief interview with him was published by Bodyshop Magazine in its March 2016 issue in which Simon talks about his career path and goals he set himself for the near future. You can read it below:

How did you you become involved in the industry?

I have always had a huge passion for cars, so I went into the automotive industry straight after completing my A-levels. After a short time in sales environment, I moved into the bodyshop sector for a more rewarding, hands-on role. Over 20 years, I gradually progressed from estimator to manager position. This year I took on a fresh challenge of heading up the new Bodyshop Division at Autotech Recruit Ltd.

In a professional capacity, what is your goal for the next six months?

My main objective is to build a base of temporary/contract bodyshop technicians, estimators and admin staff to assist in bridging the gap when bodyshop owners and managers have a deficit in resource, be it through holiday, sickness or an upturn in work.

What makes your working life both challenging and satisfying?

In times of skills shortages, the biggest challenge is to find the right people with the right qualifications and experience. When I find that correct person to fill a critical need at a company that has been losing valuable business due to lack of staff, it gives me a great sense of satisfaction. It is hugely rewarding to know you helped someone to find the right people to either employ or be employed by.

What one thing have you learnt from working in the industry?

Whether candidates or clients, talking to people is always very enjoyable.

Describe the industry in three words.

Fast-paced, exciting and rewarding.
