MOT extension will end on 1 August, but what’s the predicted impact on workshop activity?
It is estimated that by the end of July 2020, there will be 6.2 million vehicles needing an MOT on top of what is already due in the marketplace.
According to the charts produced by DVSA, September, October, and November 2020, are predicted to see a huge spike in MOTs.
The challenge will be for the aftermarket to find a way to deal with this backlog of MOT tests from August onward. As an industry, how can we engage with customers to bring their cars for their MOT earlier to distribute the demand more evenly?
