In today’s automotive industry, skilled workers are in short supply and competition for talent is intense. As a result, employers are placing great emphasis on ensuring the happiness and satisfaction of their employees. At Autotech Recruit, while we may not be their direct employer, we understand how important it is to create a good working relationship with our contract vehicle technicians and MOT testers because they are the backbone of our business. We recently conducted a contractor satisfaction survey, and the results exceeded our expectations. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at the results and delve into why these achievements are significant.

Contractor survey results exceeded our expectations.

Our contractor satisfaction survey was conducted between November and December 2023, with 92 contractors participating. Over half of the respondents (53%) have been working with us for over 2 years, showcasing their long-term commitment to Autotech Recruit (with 16% of the respondents having been with us for 6 years or more). On the other hand, 47% of the respondents have been associated with Autotech Recruit for a year or less, indicating a balanced mix of experienced and newer contractors among our respondents.

The responses affirmed that Autotech Recruit’s culture and practices are in line with our commitment to providing excellent service and care for our contractors.

At Autotech Recruit, we carefully select and collaborate exclusively with the very best vehicle technicians and MOT testers and we were pleased to see that 91% of our respondents feel proud to be an Autotech Recruit contractor. These results underscore the trust our contractors place in us as their chosen agency as well as the pride that they take in their skills.

92% of our vehicle technicians and MOT testers are satisfied with the volume of contracts they are being offered. This feedback is crucial as it demonstrates our dependability and the abundance of contract opportunities we provide. In turn, our contractors have the flexibility to work whenever they are available.

Additionally, a vast majority of our contract vehicle technicians and MOT testers are satisfied with the distances they have to travel for their contracts, with only a small percentage (4%) expressing any dissatisfaction. We remain dedicated to ensuring that our contractors can work close to home whenever possible, and we are pleased to see that the majority are content with the distances they need to travel to work, making their work-life balance manageable.

75% of our respondents consider contracting a secure and long-term career while almost 9 in 10 say that they are likely to still be contracting with Autotech Recruit in one year. This high level of commitment and loyalty from our contractors is very important to us. But these results also highlight that contracting can serve as either a long-term career choice or an interim solution. Ultimately, the decision rests with the contractor, and we are here to support whatever decision they make.

In an industry plagued by stress, it is great news that 92% of our respondents believe that the level of stress in their contractor role is manageable. Significantly, none of the respondents reported feeling overwhelmed by stress. This result serves as an indicator that contracting is an effective way to maintain a healthy work-life balance, as our contract vehicle technicians and MOT testers do not feel overly stressed or pressured.

We maintain an open line of communication with our contract vehicle technicians and MOT testers, and this survey's outcome shows our commitment to fostering a positive working relationship. However, we always strive for improvement and remain dedicated to ongoing enhancements in this area.

Finally, 97% of our contractors would recommend someone they respect to work with us, and 90% rated their experience as excellent (6 in 10) or very good (3 in 10). These numbers serve as a testament to our commitment and continued pursuit of excellence in the automotive aftermarket, as we strive to support and provide the best opportunities for our contract vehicle technicians and MOT testers.
