We are delighted to offer this exciting and rewarding opportunity with a Surrey-based social enterprise that has been growing since their formation in 2015. As well as providing a full range of garage services - MOTs, servicing, diagnostics, repairs, etc.; our client also provides motor vehicle training to teenagers and disadvantaged groups. Our client is now looking for an experienced Service Technician who is passionate about training young people and others in motor vehicle maintenance and repair.


Responsibilities and duties:

  • Conduct all levels of technical work, servicing, repair work and diagnostics.
  • Administering, delivering and assessing accredited training to trainees (from 1 to 4 trainees at one time) of all levels (entry level and level 1 typically 14-16 year old level).
  • Manage and work alongside trainees during the work experience / apprenticeship element of their development.

Knowledge/experience/qualifications required for this role:

  • At least 3 years relevant experience (this could include an apprenticeship at a credible garage).
  • Qualification: IMI, NVQ, City & Guilds, ATA or similar, to at least Level 3.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • An approachable personality, with clear, confident communication ability and a desire for furthering others.
  • Flexible, team player, able to work alongside others and guide and mentor them.
  • Used to working to main dealer standards, completing job cards, using modern equipment.
  • Able to adhere to manufacturer procedures and processes, with a high attention to detail.
  • Clean, current driving licence.
  • Will be required to pass an Enhanced DBS check (previously called CRB).
  • An MOT tester's licence and any experience of training is preferable but not essential.

  • 40 hours per week, Mon Fri 08:00 17:00; and rota Saturday mornings (08:00 12:00).
  • Salary: £23k - £28k (depending on experience and ability).
  • Workplace pension scheme - employer contribution of 4% of qualifying earnings'.
  • Holidays 20 days, increasing with tenure to 25, plus normal Bank Holidays.
  • Ongoing professional development provided, both in technical and training and assessment skills, incl. MOT testing.
