We are currently looking for a Vehicle Technician/MOT Tester to join our well-established client, a charity that provides work experience, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages (workforce members).
Their approach is about giving workforce members the chance to overcome some of the difficulties facing them by getting them involved as colleagues. They provide on the job' training, advice and support to enable each person to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the trade. This will include supporting workforce members to gain recognised qualifications and access to work placements with our customers and other organisations.
The Motor Vehicle Technician/MOT Tester will report directly to the Garage Manager and be responsible for the service, repair and MOT of customers' vehicles. They will be experienced and competent with a wide range of work from servicing and tyre changes to clutches and timing belts. Their main focus will be the day to day work of the commercial side of the garage, but they will also work closely with the Technical Trainer to identify and facilitate opportunities for the workforce to get involved with suitable garage jobs (fast-fit type work) as they work towards achieving our in-house qualification andor placement with an external company.
Main Duties:
•To ensure that all vehicle service, repair and MOT work is carried out to a high standard within an operational framework that meets or exceeds all relevant legislation, good practice guidelines and first class customer service.
•To ensure that the client delivers value for money for our customers and excellent training opportunities for the workforce.
•Any other such duties as reasonably required by the line manager that is appropriate to the post.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
•Competent level 3 technician (i.e. City and Guilds, NVQ, IMI qualifications) with at least 3 years post apprenticeship experience and the ability to assess, accurately diagnose and repair faults on all makes of motor vehicles
•Fully qualified MOT tester (class 4/7) with green RAG rating
•Ability to work unsupervised
•Current full driving license.
•Own tools
Knowledge and skills:
•Relevant and up to date knowledge of motor vehicle technology, diagnostic tools and equipment.
•Computer literate and able to source correct technical information from a range of sources e.g. Autodata, internet.

Hours:45hr avg per week across 6 days.
Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday 8.30am to 1.30pm (or 8.30am to 5.30pm every other Saturday if preferred).
Working flexibly as required based on business requirements
Salary:30k pa (depending on experience & MOT status)
