What prompted you to become a contractor with Autotech Recruit?

Rhys: A few months before I joined, I spoke with another Autotech Recruit contractor, which really piqued my interest. I had a few questions that I wanted answered, so I checked out the website, and everything looked really appealing. After speaking with a consultant, the process was straightforward from there. Ultimately, I wanted more flexibility over my working life, and Autotech Recruit offered the perfect solution.

How long have you been a vehicle technician, and how long have you been contracting with Autotech Recruit?

Rhys: I’ve been a vehicle technician for about 12 years now. But I’ve been with Autotech Recruit for around six months, and I can confidently say that choosing to work with you was the best career decision I’ve made during my time in the automotive trade.

Has it always been plain sailing, or have you faced any challenges as a contractor?

Rhys: Honestly, it’s been smooth sailing in terms of getting work. I know it’s a common concern for people exploring contracting, but in my six months with Autotech Recruit, I’ve only had one day where they couldn’t assign me work. Apart from that, they’ve always met my requests whenever I’ve updated my online diary. Sometimes contracts may change, but the process is managed seamlessly.

What’s a normal week like for you?

Rhys: A typical week involves travelling to the site I’ve been assigned to. I’m predominantly an MOT tester, so I usually carry out around 9-10 MOTs per day, get my timesheet signed, and move on to the next job if required. It’s a structured but flexible routine.

What do you enjoy most about contracting?

Rhys: The flexibility is definitely the biggest highlight for me. While it can feel a bit nerve-racking at first, you quickly adjust. It’s great to have control over your own schedule - if you need a day off, all it takes is a few days' notice. The financial rewards also far exceed any traditional role I’ve had, which makes contracting even more fulfilling.

What are your top three things about being a contractor?

Rhys: Freedom, rewards, and success. Those three words sum it up perfectly.

What would you tell someone thinking about becoming a contractor and joining Autotech Recruit?

Rhys: Don’t overthink it - it’s a seamless process. Do your research and make an informed decision, but honestly, working with Autotech Recruit has been the best decision of my career. It changes your life for the better.

How has contracting with Autotech Recruit changed your life? How is it different from other companies you’ve worked for?

Rhys: Contracting with Autotech Recruit has been life-changing. Financially, it’s been a massive boost, and it’s also brought me career success and personal growth. It’s incredibly rewarding overall. For anyone considering it, my best advice is to get in touch with Autotech recruit—whether it’s a phone call or an email - and take that first step. You won’t regret it.
