What are the benefits of contracting?
People come to us for contract roles because of benefits such as:
Increased earnings
With higher hourly rates than most permanent positions and flexible payment options that can help you take home a larger net pay, contracting offers you the opportunity to make more money.
Tax relief on expenses
Contracting through your own limited company can offer significant tax savings. We recommend getting professional advice to stay compliant and maximise benefits.
Flexibility
Contracting gives you the freedom to set your own working schedule; you can work a few days a week or full time throughout the year, depending on what best suits your lifestyle.
Improved work/life balance
As a contractor, you decide when and where you work, giving you the flexibility to prioritise family time, take weekends off, or create any work-life balance that suits you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do Autotech Recruit contractors get paid?
Submit a signed timesheet each week and if we receive it on time, you’ll be paid that Friday. Payments can be made through a limited company, sole trader or umbrella company, depending on your preference and setup.
What if I have penalty points on my MOT testing history?
Unfortunately, we can’t register candidates with a history of MOT testing penalty points on their record. This is a strict requirement to maintain industry standards and compliance.
Can I freelance just at weekends or during holidays?
Yes, many of our contractors choose to work weekends or during annual leave, depending on their main employer’s policies. This flexibility allows you to fit freelancing around your existing commitments.
How flexible is freelancing with Autotech Recruit?
Freelancing with us is highly flexible – you choose the days and contracts that suit you. Just make sure to keep your availability up to date so we can match you with the right opportunities.
Do I need my own tools?
Yes, if you’re working as a vehicle technician, you’ll need to provide your own tools. Bringing your own equipment lets you take control and perform your best every day, where ever you are.
Can anyone help me with my expenses?
If you’re a sole trader or operate through a limited company, your accountant can assist with expenses. Umbrella company contractors typically can’t claim expenses due to their tax structure.
