Setting the Standard: Why Quality Matters to Your Career with Autotech Recruit

By Darren Leppard, Head of Revenue and Operations, Autotech Recruit

This December, Autotech Recruit celebrates 15 years of supporting vehicle technicians and MOT testers. It’s a milestone that means a great deal to us, because it marks 15 years of helping automotive professionals build flexible, rewarding careers while ensuring garages can keep up with the demands of the industry.

Back in 2010, the idea of temporary and freelance technicians was almost unheard of in the aftermarket. But we believed the industry needed a better way to address skills shortages, and we knew skilled people deserved more options and control over their working lives. Today, that approach is widely used across the sector, and we’re proud to have been the ones who pioneered it.

Throughout all this growth, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to quality and doing things the right way for our contractors.

Leading with Quality

Earlier this year, Autotech Recruit achieved ISO 9001 certification, the internationally recognised standard for quality management. For you, that means a recruitment partner you can rely on. It reflects the way we operate: with consistency, professionalism, and a focus on delivering the best possible experience every step of the way.

We are also working toward ISO 27001 accreditation, which focuses on information security. When you provide us with your documents and proof of qualifications, you can trust that your details are secure and handled with care.

Quality isn’t a new mindset for us, it has shaped who we are since day one and continues to guide how we support every technician and MOT tester who works with us.

Compliance That Has Your Back

In the automotive trade, compliance isn’t just a box-ticking exercise, it’s what keeps people safe and protects the reputation of skilled professionals like you. We make it as simple and straightforward as possible. Our digital systems help ensure your Right to Work checks, driving licence details, qualifications, and MOT testing status are always up to date and easily accessible.

We also keep you updated with any industry changes, so you can stay compliant without the stress. When everything is in place, you can take on work confidently, knowing you meet the highest standards expected by garages, customers, and regulators.

Our Network, Our Strength

What truly sets Autotech Recruit apart is our people. From our internal team to every contractor across the UK, everyone plays a role in upholding the trusted reputation we’ve earned. To help maintain these high standards, we developed the Autotech Contractor Charter, a shared agreement that ensures professionalism and great communication while encouraging continued improvement.

When you represent Autotech Recruit, you represent excellence. That’s something clients notice, and it opens the door to stronger relationships, more opportunities, and long-term success.

Looking Forward

Over the past 15 years, others have followed the model we introduced. That tells us we were right to challenge the industry and create something new. But we have no intention of standing still.

We will keep raising the bar. We will keep championing fairness, integrity, and high standards. And we will keep putting automotive professionals at the centre of everything we do.

Our anniversary is a celebration of progress, but more importantly, it’s a celebration of you. Thank you for helping us set the standard across this industry. We look forward to supporting your journey for the next 15 years and beyond.
