Workshop Controller – Taunton Lead a High-Performing Automotive Workshop
Location: Taunton
Salary: Up to £38,836 per annum
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Workshop Controller to join a busy franchised dealership operation in Taunton.
This key leadership position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring maximum productivity, efficient job allocation, high-quality workmanship, and exceptional customer satisfaction. Working closely with the Aftersales leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving workshop performance, supporting technicians, and maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the efficient day-to-day operation of the workshop
- Maximise workshop productivity, profitability, and technician utilisation
- Allocate work effectively based on technician skill sets and workshop capacity
- Monitor workshop loading and workflow to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Support technicians with technical queries and operational challenges
- Maintain workshop quality standards and ensure repairs are completed right first time
- Drive vehicle health check performance and aftersales opportunities
- Ensure warranty and goodwill claims are processed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Support achievement of workshop sales, labour targets, and key performance indicators
- Promote a culture of quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience within an automotive workshop or aftersales environment
- Experience as a Workshop Controller, Workshop Supervisor, Senior Technician, or similar leadership role
- Strong technical understanding of vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repairs
- Excellent organisational and workload planning skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Good IT and administrative skills
- Full UK driving licence preferred
