Autotech Recruit is currently partnering with a specialist automotive business in Castle Donington to recruit an experienced Mechanic. Unlike a traditional dealership or service centre, our client specialises in importing vehicles from overseas markets and preparing them for UK registration and road use. This includes carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and modification work to ensure vehicles meet UK standards and are roadworthy before being supplied to customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technician who enjoys working on a variety of vehicles and is looking for a role that offers something different from day-to-day servicing in a standard workshop environment.
The Role
As a Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing imported vehicles as part of the preparation process for UK roads.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Perform vehicle inspections and roadworthiness checks.
- Complete repairs on braking, suspension, steering, transmission, and engine systems.
- Identify and report any additional work required.
- Prepare imported vehicles to meet UK road and safety standards.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate workshop records and job documentation.
- Support a safe, efficient, and productive workshop environment.
About You
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Diagnostic Technician, or Service Technician.
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Comfortable working on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- MOT Tester qualification advantageous but not essential.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
