A well-established transport and logistics organisation is looking to recruit a Mechanical / Electrical Workshop Technician to join its busy workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic with experience across HGVs, buses, coaches, vans, electric vehicles, and fleet maintenance.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, inspections, repairs, and refurbishment work on a diverse fleet of vehicles while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, buses, coaches, vans, cars, and EVs.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Carry out MOT preparation work and vehicle inspections.
- Complete bodywork, chassis repairs, accident damage repairs, and minor welding tasks.
- Maintain and install electrical systems including lighting, charging, and starting systems.
- Work safely and efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Accurately complete workshop documentation and utilise workshop systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased workshop efficiency.
- Deliver excellent service to internal and external customers.
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in HGV/PSV Maintenance & Repair
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar mechanic/technician role
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience working on HGVs, buses, coaches, or commercial vehicles
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- IRTEC PSV Inspection Accreditation
- HGV or PCV Licence
- Bus and Coach maintenance experience
- Recognised apprenticeship within an HGV/PCV workshop environment
