Stores Person- Aviation & Engineering Environment

The Opportunity
My client is looking to recruit a highly organised and proactive Stores Person to support a busy engineering operation based at London Heathrow. This is a key role within the supply chain, responsible for the control, issue and traceability of parts, materials and equipment used in a fast-paced technical environment.
This position would be ideal for an experienced Automotive Parts Advisor or someone from a vehicle maintenance, plant, or engineering stores background who enjoys a hands-on role with responsibility and variety.

Key Responsibilities
Materials & Parts Issue

  • Provide prompt, professional counter service to technicians and workshop staff
  • Identify and understand technician requirements to issue the correct parts and materials
  • Issue parts, tools, PPE and consumables, ensuring accurate paperwork and system updates
  • Purchase critical parts from suppliers as required and monitor order progress
  • Pick, pack and prepare stock for delivery to outstations
  • Maintain accurate records within the SAP system
  • Deliver materials to workshop areas and outstations when required
  • Keep supervisors informed of critical or outstanding parts
  • Produce daily reports on critical parts and expected delivery dates

Goods Inwards

  • Receive, check and book in deliveries using internal IT systems
  • Safely unload delivery vehicles
  • Organise and manage a goods-in quarantine area
  • Identify and report damaged or missing items to suppliers promptly
  • Label, locate and store new stock correctly
  • Collect goods from suppliers as required
  • Operate a forklift and company vehicles (licence dependent)

Stock Control & Compliance

  • Assist with stock counts and reconciliation
  • Ensure full traceability of all parts and materials
  • Correctly store items based on size, weight and safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate bin locations within the stock control system
  • Manage PPE stock levels
  • Ensure COSHH documentation is filed and kept up to date
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised stores environment at all times

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Work in line with all health and safety procedures and company policies
  • Correctly use PPE and safety equipment
  • Report incidents, near misses, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions
  • Comply with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001/OHSAS requirements
  • Ensure waste is identified and segregated correctly

About You

  • Previous experience in a busy parts, stores or warehouse environment
  • Automotive Parts Advisor or vehicle maintenance parts experience is highly desirable
  • Comfortable working with SAP or similar stock / purchase order systems
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with a customer-focused mindset
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a time-critical environment
  • Practical, hands-on and proactive with a “can-do” attitude
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Forklift licence and mechanical or engineering knowledge (desirable)
