Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm
About the Role A well-established automotive retailer is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join its busy workshop team in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with strong fault-finding expertise to work within a professional dealership environment, benefiting from ongoing training, career development and an uncapped bonus structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance in line with manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose, investigate and repair vehicle faults, including complex electrical and mechanical issues.
- Perform vehicle health checks and provide detailed reports on identified faults.
- Complete MOT-related repairs where required.
- Service and repair vehicle air conditioning systems.
- Carry out welding repairs when necessary.
- Obtain parts estimates and order components required for repairs.
- Accurately complete workshop documentation and job records.
- Liaise with customers when appropriate, providing updates on vehicle progress.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Requirements
- Relevant Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent automotive qualification.
- Previous experience working as a Diagnostic Technician within a dealership or professional workshop environment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities, including electrical systems.
- Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and productivity targets.
- Commitment to delivering excellent workmanship and customer service.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
