Jake found that contracting offers all the structure of permanent employment without the downsides. His weekly routine remains familiar, but he now enjoys the benefits of self-employment and a focus purely on the technical work he loves.
“Contracting feels very similar to being employed, just without the workplace politics. My week isn’t very different from being full-time employed. The main difference is that I’m self-employed and working for myself. Other than that, it’s business as usual – a Monday-to-Friday schedule where I focus on the tasks at hand.”
