Autotech Group Strengthens Skills Pledge with Armed Forces Covenant

Home > Blog > Autotech Group Strengthens Skills Pledge with Armed Forces Covenant

Autotech Group has officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing its internal commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, and service leavers as a vital part of the UK’s automotive talent pipeline. The signing, by Autotech Group CEO Simon King, took place last week at Motorvate, Automechanika’s flagship inclusion programme.

As a leading provider of solutions designed to boost skills and address workforce shortages across the UK’s automotive aftermarket, Autotech Group is committed not only to supporting the sector’s long-term sustainability but also to fostering an inclusive, values-driven culture within its own organisation.

The signing of the Covenant formalises Autotech Group’s dedication to recruiting and supporting members of the Armed Forces community within its internal workforce – spanning its Recruit, Training, Academy, and Connect brands. It also represents a deepening of Autotech Group’s people-first ethos, recognising the exceptional value veterans and service leavers bring to technical and operational roles across the business.

“People are at the heart of everything we do at Autotech Group, and that includes the way we support those connected to the Armed Forces,” comments Simon King, CEO of Autotech Group. “Our commitment under the Covenant goes beyond employing veterans. It’s about recognising the unique contribution of Reservists, supporting employees whose family members serve, and honouring the broader role of the Armed Forces through events such as Remembrance commemorations. By embracing their strengths across our business, we’re building a workforce that reflects our values – one that’s resilient, inclusive, and future-ready. This pledge runs through every part of our organisation and each of our brands.”

The Mission Automotive initiative, delivered by Mission Community in partnership with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), supports UK automotive employers in understanding and accessing the skills of veterans, reservists, and service leavers. It helps translate military experience into impactful civilian careers through tailored guidance, networking, and policy support.

There are currently over 2.2 million veterans in the UK, with around 15,000 service leavers transitioning each year. Many exit the military with qualifications in mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering – making them exceptionally well-suited to technical roles in the automotive sector and within companies like Autotech Group.

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Community, added: “Autotech Group has long demonstrated a practical commitment to skills development. Their signing of the Armed Forces Covenant is a meaningful step that puts their values into action – creating opportunities for the Armed Forces community not only in the industry but within their own organisation.”

The signing was part of Motorvate, Automechanika’s flagship inclusion initiative, bringing together organisations committed to creating a diverse, resilient and sustainable workforce across the automotive aftermarket.
