Over £1,200 Raised for Wheelwrights Charity 2020 Appeal by Our Tough Mudder Team

Our Tough Mudder 5K team at Franklin's Gardens in NorthamptonAt least once a year, we aim to take part in a team challenge to raise money for our chosen charity. On the 1st of June 2019, a group of 10 Autotech Recruit staff, contractors and friends of the company took on the Tough Mudder 5K in Northampton raising an amazing £1,218 for the Wheelwrights Charity 2020 Appeal.

Wheelwrights Charity was set up in 1983 by The Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights with the aim of facilitating access to sport, educational and recreational activities for disabled people, especially children, young people, and disabled ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen. The charity’s 2020 Appeal was established in 2013 as a special commitment to support disabled athletes in a variety of sporting activities, including:

• individual grants
• help towards the installation of a wheelchair racing track at Treloar’s School
• partnership with WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport
• sponsorship of the annual Inter Spinal Unit Games

A big thank you to everyone who has supported Autotech Recruit’s fundraising efforts with their donations. They provided great motivation for our team taking part in the teamwork-focused, obstacle-crammed Tough Mudder. We must admit that despite all the baking and cake eating that got done at Autotech Recruit in the run up to the challenge, the team demonstrated great form and stamina.

Our Managing Director, Gavin White said: “Our team showed fantastic energy and enthusiasm for fundraising for the Wheelwrights Charity 2020 Appeal. The Tough Mudder challenge in the midday heat was tough, but fun at the same time. We’d like to extend our special thanks to Manesh, one of our contract MOT testers, who stepped in to cover for a team member who had to pull out at the last minute.”

Previously the Autotech Recruit team have also supported several other charitable organisations and events, including BEN – Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, Children with Cancer UK (Kwik-Fit Appeal), Macmillan Coffee Morning. If you have any ideas you would like us to consider as our future fundraising challenge please send them to hello@autotechrecruit.co.uk.
