This week, coinciding with Colleges Week 2021, Autotech Academy is set to host its first virtual Open Evening for automotive college students. Free to attend, and open to all automotive students working towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification, the event will explain the entire process of becoming an intern.
Calling all automotive students – how to get a career within the motor sector after qualifying:
The Open Evening will take place over Zoom and is a great opportunity for students who are keen to secure a career in the motor trade once they qualify.
Autotech Academy’s unique internship programme, which pays above the minimum hourly rate, was launched by Autotech Group, the automotive industry’s go-to employment and training company, in a bid to create a steady stream of talent for the sector.
On completion of their current college course, interns will be interviewed by Autotech Academy, and placed into a garage or maintenance repair business on a paid internship lasting from 3 to 12 months, depending on their qualification and area of interest. They will also be equipped with a toolbox worth over £1,000, and a uniform.
At the end of the placement, the intern will hopefully be offered full-time employment by the automotive employer. If not, they not only have the theoretical knowledge as a result of their college course, but several months’ worth of experience under their belt to help them secure another automotive role.
Due to the current skills shortage within the automotive industry, interns through Autotech Academy are in high demand with recently qualified students already working within Marshalls Dealership Group, Ford, and VW Commercial Vehicles amongst many others.
