NTDA National Chairman Prashant Chopra with South & Central South Chairman Gavin White

Autotech Recruit’s MD, Gavin White, has been appointed as the National Tyre Distributors Association’s (NTDA) new Chairman for the South-East & Central South Region.

In an official handover from Prashant Chopra at the NTDA’s annual AGM, held during the recent Automechanika Show in Birmingham, Gavin was formally installed as Regional Chairman by NTDA Chief Executive Stefan Hay, who cited Gavin’s passion and tenacity to improving recruitment within the industry as pivotal reasons for his appointment.

“Gavin is a dynamic individual who, through his company, appoints vehicle technicians into our industry on a daily basis to fulfil the growing demand for skilled workers,” Stefan comments. “With the automotive aftercare market within the UK expanding, along with the ‘intelligence’ of vehicles, technicians need to be increasingly technically proficient and skilled to stay ahead of the game. And it is Gavin’s comprehensive knowledge of the market, and of the candidates seeking employment, which is so valuable to our association.”

The increase in demand for skilled workforce within the automotive industry is particularly prevalent in the South-East and Central South region, therefore South East based Gavin was the ideal candidate for this prestigious position.

In response to his appointment, Gavin commented: “I feel very privileged to be awarded this position, and delighted with the opportunity to work with the NTDA. As a leading trade body, I look forward to representing its members within the regions and addressing any issues they may face. As the UK’s only recruitment agency dedicated to placing MOT Testers and Vehicle Technicians on a temporary, contract or permanent basis into the automotive industry, we fully comprehend the pressures placed on employers and candidates alike. From shortages of skilled staff to the lack of valuable training opportunities which are needed to ensure our current, and future, automotive workforce meets the challenges which lay ahead as this industry continues to prosper.”

Founded in 1930, the NTDA is a strongly proactive trade association representing and promoting the interests of the tyre wholesale, distribution and retail sectors of the automotive aftermarket industry.
